From a land known these days for its advancements in modern day technology, there also hails an ancient convenience known for giving one a restful nights sleep. The mattress itself is usually stuffed with cotton or synthetic batting. You may occasionally come across one filled with wool, but they are fairly rare these days. Typically, a mattress is three to five inches in thickness and is designed to be spread out flat on the floor. As people usually perspire during sleep, the futon has been designed to absorb moisture. Surprisingly, you can have a very peaceful sleep, stay warm, and feel a kind of support that you would not get from a traditional bed.

Most people would agree that making the bed is a chore that they could do without, and futons solves just this problem. You can just roll up a futon and put in your closet or in the corner of your room. What was your bedroom then becomes a living room. When the futon is not being used, it can also be hung outside in the sunlight to keep it smelling nice and fresh. Gaming consoles are standard in most homes these days. The fact is that children, and some adults too, absolutely love them. So much, in fact, that most would rather play them than play outside. Fun as they are though, they put your expensive TV at risk of getting damaged. Every year, thousands and thousands of expensive TVs are damaged as a result of children throwing, whether by accident or through anger, console controllers at TV screens. The scratches and cracks that occur are at best unsightly and annoying, and at worst render the TV unusable. Fixing a damaged TV screen is not as easy as replacing an internal circuit board inside the television. A cracked TV screen needs to be totally replaced.

The cost for this is often as much as buying a whole new television. Some rich people can buy a new TV as when they want one but, for most of us, losing that much money is difficult, even tragic. The warranty you get from a retailer for your new TV, in most cases, does not cover accidental screen contact. Therefore, if you knock it by accident, or a child throws something at it, and the screen gets a crack or a scratch, the damage will be irreparable 90%+ of the time.

When I my children are playing on the console I notice they get very competitive and start moving closer to the screen. So, what I do is put an obstacle in their way which I tell them that they are not allowed to pass. If they do they know I will ban them from using the console for a week or two. This works very well, but it is not the best option. There is a solution though, which is to use a TV screen protector. These deceptively simple pieces of equipment, which are very cheap in comparison to the cost of repairing, or even replacing a TV, are there to take the damage, whilst the TV screen behind them remains untouched. A properly designed TV screen protector will be thick enough, 6MM or roughly 1/4″ of an inch. It should be held off the TV a distance to allow it to flex, 1/4″ or so. It also should be held securely onto the TV.

An ideal solution is a lip on the top of the TV screen protector that allows the TV to carry the weight of the TV screen protector and straps going around it to secure it on the TV. Occasional cleaning of a TV screen protector will be necessary, but will be needed less often than you are currently having to wipe down your TV screen now. They are also much easier to clean, as you do not have to worry about what you spray on them or how hard you wipe. The good news is that your picture quality won’t suffer at all as a result of using a TV screen protector. Unless you have your lights positioned oddly, there won’t be even the slightest glare showing up on the screen. The TV screen protector itself is optically clear and will not distort the image. After a while many people even forget that the screen protector is even on the TV.

During this altered state of mind, called the Shamanic journey, the Shaman receives powers he uses to spiritually lead and heal his people. The Shaman’s drum is very interesting to look at and if you inspect it closely you will realize that unlike many other leather Native American drums used in tribal ceremonies, these rustic drums have natural rawhide, stretched over a wooden frame on one side and are laced with raw hide string on the other side. They don’t have the loop hold like many other tribal drums do. A drum made in this way allows for a natural hand holding position so you can fully control the drum and easily manipulate the sound that is vital in bringing out the right tones specific to the Shamanic journey.

You will also see that many Shamanic drums have paintings and symbols on the rawhide drum face. These unique Native American paintings often depict a map of the universe or symbols of spiritual powers you can use to guide you in your spiritual journeying experience. If you are choosing the drum for Shamanic work, take time to study the significance of the painting and the meaning the artist is trying to convey in the artwork. Since the southwest paintings have spiritual power that influences the journey, you want to make sure it is in agreement with your own practices and influences you in that direction.

Also, I like to check the quality of the instrument before purchasing. It’s critical to check that there are no thin places at the points where the cords of the drumhead are connected. This is important for the quality and life of your Shaman drum and will save you money in the long run by not having to have it repaired or buy a new one.

Most attention is placed on the drum alone but it’s also important to choose the appropriate striking mallet so you can enjoy the resonating sound of these native drums to its fullest. You will see that there are many different types of mallets that create different sounds from the drum. It is simply a matter of personal opinion and should be based on what you feel most comfortable using. Whether you are looking for Native American musical instruments such as drums to incorporate into your home decor or are using it to help you in your spiritual journey, you will no doubt be drawn to the true rustic beauty and western charm created by decorating or playing Shaman drums.
